Q&A: If you could have a fully computerized home, what would you want it to do?

iPad Security | Monday June 27 2011 5:11 pm | Comments (0) Tags: , , , , ,

Question by karozans: If you could have a fully computerized home, what would you want it to do?
Hi. I am a Computer Engineer. I want to build a new home that is fully computer automated. I want a list of ideas that I can implement in my new house. No idea is too far fetched or too silly. Sometimes silly ideas can lead to practical ideas.

Here is a list of things I want so far.

1) Solar panels so the electric bill isn’t so high, and backup generator in case of power outage, all linked to a central computer.

2) Video surveillance outside that is linked to inside monitor for communications at the front gate to identify visitors.

3) Auto lighted drive way, that turns on drive way lights as a car drives up, and then shuts them off when the car passes by them.

4) Universal RFID system tailored to each individual that lives in the house.

5) RFID recognition so that the front gate opens automatically when I get home.

6) RFID keys so that the front door automatically opens for anyone who has the correct RFID key. Door remains locked all the time and is completely automated.

7) Full video and audio system for communicating with other people in the entire house without having to leave the room you are in.
8) Fully automated blinds for windows that are linked to the HVAC thermostat so that temperature is maintained at the best possible comfort to cost ratio.

9) Zones that are taylored to each RFID so that temperature and lighting will auto change when someone enters the room.

10) Motion sensors on all interior doors for automated open and close.

11) Complete security system.

12) Automated blind and windows.

13) Fiber, ethernet, wireless in every room for personal computer communications.

14) Build in capacitive HD touch screens in walls and on several large surfaces. Like 4 feet wide by 8 feet wide. Very similar to the iPad now, just on a massive scale.

15) IPad apps to monitor the house and see real time data on what is going on in the house.

Okay that is all I can think of right now.

Come up with some cool ideas that you think would be neat to have in the home of the future.

Again, no idea is too silly. I can do all this stuff for really cheap, if I do it myself.

Thanks

Why is my article being rejected by wikipedia?

Question by hadi: Why is my article being rejected by wikipedia?
My article is falling under the “speedy deletion” criteria (A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content). The article is actually about a company, has plenty of relevant sources and even has plenty of citations from high PR pages.
I even tried placing the {{hang on}} tag. then I wrote a dispute on the mytalk page, yet still within 60 seconds, the article is deleted.

Can anyone help?

Just for reference, here is my article:

You can’t say “being the first to use this technology has granted them the award” – that doesn’t make sense. Clearly, *SME Advisor* granted them the award. So, that should read more like this: “Soon after their launch in 2010, SME Advisor granted Shifra their prestigious ‘Stars of Business’ Industry Achievement Award for construction and real estate, for being the first vendor to provide Z-Wave wireless technology to residential homes in the Middle East.”

Once you get that corrected, along with your overuse of Initial Caps Where They Don’t Belong, I’m sure Wikipedians will welcome your highly neutral and non-subjective encyclopedia article with open arms!

Answer by Sir Caustic
I just can’t understand it, hadi. You’d think that most of those Wikipedia people would welcome such a useful, informative article being hosted on their awful forum, or whatever it is. I tell you, if I ever moved to Dubai it’s just the sort of info I’d be looking for on the net, for all my Home Automation Solutions Provider needs. There’s no doubt about it – if you’re looking for control systems for lighting, appliances, air conditioning, motorized curtains, infrared systems, security systems, video surveillance, multi-room audio & video, and home theater systems then Shifra Smart Homes is *the* one-stop shop to go to for a professional, award-winning service.

The only thing you can really do is keep on uploading the article using as many different account names as you can until they allow it in. You could also try PM’ing those editors who are deleting it and perhaps Jimbo Wales himself and arrange for them to visit your home to view what Shifra Smart Homes have done for you. After all, who could fail to be impressed by the Z-Wave wireless standard, inter-operable, secure, 2-way, wireless mesh based technology fitted throughout your home-environment? No-one, that’s who. Good luck, hadi.

It is a virus

Answer by Braindead Brainiac
As stated: It is a virus.

And a particularly nasty one at that.

I don’t know much about iPads, but if there is a place that services them, that is your best bet.

It’s not a real anti-virus. It is a crappy little program that hijacks your iPad and forces you to buy their product.

If you don’t buy their product, they will pump in viruses.

Answer by Sonata
It’s most likely a virus faking itself as an antivirus to make you enter your credit card details and such. Use another computer to download the files for a real antivirus like Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG Free edition and then put it on the infected computer.

The best method is to format your computer and reinstall a fresh copy of windows on it though.

Question by Alex Scott: Please help me with virus?
I have the win 7 anti spyware 2011 spyware on my computer I have done some research on my iPad about how to get it off and everything says use spyware doctor but my PC is infected and it doesn’t have spyware doctor on it and this virus wont let me go online to download it, I cant get on firefox, internet explorer, or safari whenever I try to go somewhere it gives me the same message that Is “firefox alert. Visiting this site may pose a security threat to your system!” and I get tons of pop ups whenever I try to do anything on my computer about buying win 7 anti spyware 2011. So I tried downloading spyware doctor onto my Mac and putting it on a USB but I only got the setup after downloading it and I couldn’t transfer it to a USB and I couldn’t set it up because it only works on PC. I have an iPad, an iPod touch, a Mac, and a PC that’s infected. Does anyone know of any way I could get spyware doctor on my Mac and transfer it to my PC by means of USB and have it work, or maybe somehow use my iPad and get the setup on my iPad and transfer it to my PC throughout ITunes or something? Or does anyone know any way to remove win 7 anti spyware 2011 without spyware doctor. Thank you for any help you can give me I really do appreciate it.:)

here.. download AVG anti virus free edition.. install, update… scan whole computer..

MORE INFORMATION: some websites are created by the fake anti virus softwares which tells you to use it coz its free.. and when you install it to ur pc… that fake anti virus is also a virus that detects system files as viruses and would make you delete those files.. which are important to your system which would make your pc crash..

be careful on researching about anti viruses.. search antivirus softwares which are named by people who tried using them… and i haven’t heard of any spyware doctor.. ^^ sounds like a virus to me..

anyways.. good luck..^^

I suggest boot your windows 7 in safe mode with network support. his will make your windows 7 run in a special mode that without running any extra programs.

once in safe mode, download the antvirus. then install, then restart and enter in safe mode again, then scan for viruses.

to enter in safe mode, restart the computer, and press f8 before windows loads, or just mash f8 after restarting. a set of options will appear, then select boot in safe mode with networking. (use the keyboard keys to navigate. remember to choose safe mode with network or networking support.)
